Please join us for a free screening of Another Way of Living, an enlightening documentary that chronicles urban planner Robert Simon’s quest to create a new kind of suburban American town that values community, nature, diversity and social equity. In 1964, he developed the new town of Reston, VA where he made his utopian vision a reality. Reston, mixing residential & commercial uses and creating civic open spaces to promote community, became an international sensation that inspired new trends in suburban development. Yet, early on, Simson was fired from the project by investors. However, at age 100, he continues to insist that Reston remain true to its principles, and after a 20-year absence, he returned as a community activist, working with other residents to ensure the town remains true to its founding principles. This film is not rated & has a run time of 69 minutes. Refreshments served.
