Event Details
David Benjamin, award-winning author of more than a dozen novels, dissects the development of a novel, from the inspiration to the climax, in a presentation that demystifies the challenge of assembling all the parts and people in a long-form narrative. Mr. Benjamin will discuss issues every author must resolve —the composition of a full outline, or seemingly simple issues including tense and “person.” He will talk about character development, dialog, research and more. The presentation includes a five-minute exercise during which Mr. Benjamin asks everyone to write the first paragraph of a novel. Mr. Benjamin will also discuss his latest novel, Bistro Nights.
About the Author:
David Benjamin, raised in Tomah, has lived all over the world, creating richly detailed stories. Bistro Nights is his third novel set in Paris, after Three’s a Crowd and Skulduggery in the Latin Quarter.
