Gardening season is just around the corner, and the SPCGO wants to help you get ready with two great gardening presentations!

  • Organic Techniques For Vegetable Growers in Small Spaces: Joe Muellenberg will discuss best practices for growing safely and productively in a community garden setting.
  • Pollinators and Your Gardens: Mindy Habecker will explain how many of our pollinators such as bees and butterflies have been in decline for multiple reasons. 87% of all flowering plants depend on pollinators for their reproduction. This includes 35% of the world’s food crops. Come learn about what you can do in your gardens to help provide habitat and protect our local pollinators.

About the presenters:

Joe Muellenberg serves as the Positive Youth Development/Horticulture Program Coordinator for Extension - Dane County. His role includes working with school gardens and other community gardening projects, assisting with the Master Gardener program, and coordinating composting education. He partners with the Madison Metropolitan School District, the WI Department of Corrections, Community Groundworks, and other community partners to deliver horticulture education throughout Dane County.
